Who Is Diamond Platnumz
Diamond Platnumz is one of the most celebrated artists in Tanzania who throughout his career has earned himself different names like Chibu Dangote, Simba or Bigi due to his never-ending influence in the Tanzanian music industry.
Real name Naseeb Abdul Isaac was born on October 2 1992 in the Tandale area in Dar Es Salaam. His vocal abilities and outstanding songwriting skills have earned him various hit songs such as "Kamwambie", "Mawazo", "Nataka Kulewa", "My Number One", "Inama" and many others that have earned him various accolades.
Chibu will always be remembered as the first Tanzanian artist to take Bongo Fleva Genre onto the International stage. Background & Breakthrough
Simba started his education in 1995 at Chakula Bora Nursery School and one year later he joined Tandale Magharibi primary school from 1996 to 2002 where he completed his primary school education.
After completing his O Level studies in 2006, the young Naseeb began to chase his dream of being a musician and through his brother Rommy Jones who introduced him to different producers, Diamond started recording music while doing odd jobs such as selling second-hand clothes and also worked as a gas station attendant.
He first started out as a rapper where he worked with different artists such as the late Mangwair in Jisachi and Hemedi PhD. After realizing that rap was not his thing, he switched to singing.
In 2010 he released "Kamwambie" which became a crossover hit and made Diamond Platnumz a household name in Tanzania. He later released many hits songs including "Mbagala", "Mawazo," "Kesho" and many others that solidified his name as one of the most iconic East African artists.
His 2013 hit single "My Number One" introduced him to the major music markets in Africa such as Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa and Congo and from there Diamond Platnumz extended his profile by working with American artists such as Rick Ross, Marion, Ne-Yo and Grammy Award winner Alicia Keys.
