If there's one artist whose music you need to listen to right now, it's Teni! This singer from Nigeria has captivated audiences all over Africa and the world in extension with her soulful voice and intoxicating lyrics. Born on the 23rd of December 1992 in Lagos state, south-west Nigeria, Teni attended the Apata Memorial High School and went on to further at the American InterContinental University where she earned a degree in business administration. She is the younger sister of the self-acclaimed Nigerian Queen of Afrohouse music, Niniola.

Deciding to pursue a career in music, Teni started her musical journey by signing to Shizzi’s record label, Magic Finger Records where she released her first single titled Amen. After a brief stint with Magic Finger Records, Teni moved on and signed with Dr Dolor Entertainment in 2017. Her first single under her new label Dr Dolor Enterntainment was “Fargin”, a record that was birthed from a freestyle she shared on Instagram. Following the success of Fargin Teni released Wait and then her breakout single “Case” followed by her next hit “Uyo Meyo” which followed a few months later on the 23rd of December 2018.

On the 11th of October 2019, Teni released her first project, a six-track project which came in the form of an extended playlist titled Billionaire. For the EP which had no other artist featured, she signed up two of the most talented Nigerian producers Jaysynths Beatz and Pheelz. The EP housed the record “Billionaire” which was the standout record of the project, it was released prior to the project as the lead single of the EP.

In April 2020, Teni collaborated with DJ Neptune on a four-track EP titled Quarantine Playlist. Produced by Tempoe, P. Prime and Dëra, the project was one for the season as there was a lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic at the time.

In February 2021, she announced her debut album Wondaland and one month later to the excitement of fans and listeners all over the world, the album arrived.

The Wondaland album was almost a solo effort containing seventeen tracks, with Davido being the only featured artist on the project. The album was made in the span of two years across cities like Orlando, New York, London and Nigerian cities like Ondo, Abuja and Lagos.

Having established herself in the Nigerian music industry as a force to reckon with and a brand name to associate with, Teni has several ambassadorial deals to her name. Amongst them are Pepsi, Budweiser, Samsung, Tom Tom and telecommunications giant, Globacom. She also does some philanthropic work as she sometimes engages fans on social media and spots the ones who need help and helps them with things like paying tuition fees etc. Her award shelf is also decorated with over eight major music awards with Best Pop Single with her song “Case” and Best Recording of the Year with her song “Uyo Meyo” at the 2019 Headies award being at the top of it. Also in 2019, she won the Headies award for the Best Vocal Performance (Female) with the record “Uyo Meyo”.
