Niniola Apata was born on 15 December 1986, to parents Retired Brigadier General (Late) Simeon Olaosebikan Apata and Mrs Margaret Apata in Ekiti State Nigeria. Her mother was among the three wives married by the late Brigadier. As an artist, she is known as Nigeria's Queen of “Afro-house” music.

Niniola grew up in a polygamous family where there are ten Children with her being the sixth of them. In her lineage she and her younger sister Teniola Apata are the most popular singers.

Growing up Niniola was always told she had a talent in music and thus had to push for it all through her growing up. However, her mother was initially not in support of her venture into music but made peace with it later on.

Back at Apata Memorial Highschool, Niniola started singing in front of her friends just to boost her morale and confidence in music performance.
In her music, she is known to adopt the local language Yoruba which she said sounds beautiful.

After that, she joined the University of Lagos where she studied Bachelor of Education degree in Biology. Niniola took it upon herself and joined various music competitions and auditioned but was largely rejected. She once auditioned for the 'West Africa Idol' but she did not move to the next level she was rejected. When she thought she’d give up on her music after being rejected at the X-Factor Nigeria, she went and auditioned for 'Project Fame West Africa’ and this time she got the chance in the competition and she emerged fourth.

After the competitions, she forged to create a music career starting out with her first song “Ibadi” back in 2014. The song was produced by Sarz that turned her into a household name in Nigeria.

She later released her first music album dubbed “This Is Me” which had 13 songs and later go an award for Artist of The Month in November 2017.
Later on, 2017 was her biggest year with the hit song “Maradonna”, which became a track that featured in Beyonce’s Lion King tracks.
Eventually, she got the opportunity to work with other artists including Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo for the song “Mbilo Mbilo” remix which won Best Collaboration in the 2016 Afrima Awards.

With her music career having picked up on a high note, Niniola was able to go on a music tour in South Africa and she got a chance to perform at the 2018 South Africa Music Carnival.
