"Akothee Biography: Music, Philanthropy And Family

Esther Akoth, popularly known as Akothee, is a Kenyan musician, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. She was born on April 8, 1980, in Migori County, Kenya, where she spent a better part of her childhood. Akothee's rise to stardom was punctuated by a lot of setbacks, she nonetheless, used the setbacks as her stepping stones to success and currently ranks among the wealthiest African musicians.

Akothee started out as a taxi driver in Mombasa, Kenya. She patiently climbed up the ladder and eventually made her debut in music in 2008. Akothee's melodious voice and energetic dance moves quickly earned her recognition in the local music market.

The singer's consistency, creativity, and hard work cemented her reputation as one of the most sought-after Kenyan artists at the time. She was the first Kenyan musician to collaborate with Tanzanian music icon Diamond Platnumz. The duo released 'Sweet Love' in 2016; approximately seven years later and the hit song has accumulated over 10 million views on YouTube.

Some of the other songs that propelled her to the top of the music chart when she started out include; 'Nimechoka', 'Katika', 'Djele Djele', and 'Shengerera Mama' among many others.

Apart from her music career, Akothee is also a successful entrepreneur. She owns a chain of businesses with the popular one being her tour company Akothee Safaris. She is also a philanthropist and has been involved in several charitable projects under Akothee Foundation, including sponsoring needy students to pursue education.

Akothee's luxurious lifestyle has attracted praise and criticism in equal measure. The vocalist has however developed a thick skin against online criticism and bullies. She is also known for speaking her mind regardless of how controversial the subject might be.

In recognition of her contribution to music and philanthropy, Akothee has received several awards, including the Afrimma Award for Best Female East Africa Artist in 2018 and the African Entertainment Award for Best Female Artist in 2019.

Akothee is a mother of five children; three daughters and two sons. She was blessed with three daughters from her first marriage, and then two sons were conceived from her second marriage. On April 10, 2023, Akothee tied the knot with Dennis Schweizer in a beautiful wedding.
