'The Akothee Lioness' and Other Top Kenyan Albums Released in First-half of 2022

The first half of the year 2022 has been marked by the entry of new albums into the Kenyan music industry. Whereas some of the artists were releasing their debut albums, others were cementing an already existing reputation in the industry. It goes without saying that these albums have contributed immensely to the growth of the Kenyan music scene. Here are the top albums that shaped the first half of the year 2022:

Focus - Arrow Bwoy
Renowned singer Ali Yusuph, popularly known as Arrow Bwoy, released his second album dubbed 'Focus'. The album14-track album housessongs such as 'Raha', 'Usinimwagie', 'Unconditional Love', and 'Tunaendana' among others. The album features guest appearances from both local and foreign artists including; B Classic, Otile Brown, Sanaipei Tande, Nadia Mukami, Dufla Diligon, Tanzania’s Nandy, and Uganda’s Spice Diana.

Invincible Currency - Khaligraph Jones
BET Awards nominee Brian Robert Ouko, better known by his stage name Khaligraph Jones, released a new album titled 'Invincible Currency' at the beginning of the year. The album which has 17 songs features collaborations with  Prince Indah, Blackway, Adasa, Mejja, Alikiba, Kev The Topic, Scar Mkadinali, Xenia Mannasseh, Rudeboy, and Dax. Among the songs from the album that performed extremely well were; 'Maombi Ya Mama', 'Hiroshima', 'Rada Safi' and 'Ikechukwu' among others.

Savage Level - Savara
Sauti Sol's Savara finally unveiled his debut album called 'Savage Level' which stars him as a solo artist. The 14-track album has only 2 collaborations which are; 'Vibration' featuring Karun and 'More Than A Friend' featuring Nyashinski. Some of the songs from the album which performed remarkably well are 'Balance', 'Killem every day', and 'Sababisha' among others.

Three Wise Goats- Mbuzi Gang
Gengetone group Mbuzi Gang released its debut album known as 'Three Wise Goats'. The 10-track album features collaborations with top music stars including; Jose Chameleone, Nina Roz, Lava Lava, Navio, Ethic, KRG, and Katapila among others. The album was treated to a warm reception from the fans. The production of the songs was headlined by Black Market Records which has also signed the group.

Heavy is The Crown - Chimano
Sauti Sol's Chimano launched his first album as an independent artist. The album titled 'Heavy Is The Crown' houses seven tracks; 'Friday Feeling', 'Loser', 'Freedom', 'Hallelujah', 'Beautiful Day', and 'Mad Love'. Among the brains behind the production of the album was Sauti Sol's lead man Bien.

The Akothee Lioness - Akothee
Celebrated Kenyan songstress wrapped up the first half of the year with the launch of her book 'Akothee Quotes' and her album 'The Akothee Lioness'. The album has eight songs; six singles and two collaborations. The collaborations in the album are 'Siponsa' featuring vernacular artist Tony Nyadundo and 'Ndoro Nditu' featuring Kamanu.
