ABOUT CHIKE

Full name, Chike-Ezekpeazu Osebuka, Chike is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and actor. He was born in Lagos state south-west of Nigeria and a native of Onitsha, Anambra state, south-east of Nigeria.

He studied computer engineering at Covenant University where he graduated with BSc honours. He would go on to relinquish his education’s career field for a career in music. He started by auditioning for the music reality TV show, Project Fame West Africa. After a successful round of auditions, he was admitted into the Project Fame academy where he would now compete with plenty of other talents for the prize. After lasting a few weeks in the competition and eventually reaching the top 10, impressing both viewers and judges, Chike was prematurely evicted from the show as he could not rack up enough votes and judges' confidence to keep him in the competition. But this was just the beginning of his journey as he took part in the first season of The Voice Nigeria finishing as the first runner-up. While still looking for a headway for his singing career, he dabbled into acting making his debut on Africa Magic’s telenovela, Battleground where he acted as Mayowa Badmus.

On the 14th of February 2020, after much anticipation, Chike released his debut album titled Boo of the Booless. The critically acclaimed project housed fourteen tracks and features Ric Hassani, Zoro and M.I Abaga. To celebrate the second year anniversary of the Boo of the Booless album, he released the live version of the project, this time with the inclusion of two extra tracks, Fan Love and Follow You.

The debut “Boo of the Booless” featured hit songs like “Nakupenda” featuring Ric Hassani, “Out of Love” and the popular Roju. Roju is termed the perfect wedding song, a perfect blend of highlife and afrobeats, the record was sung in pidgin, English and Igbo language. The video which was released in June 2021 also features a perfect blend of cultures, showcasing the rich marriage culture of the different tribes in Nigeria. With over nine million views on the popular video-sharing platform YouTube, Roju is recognized by many music lovers and enthusiasts alike as one of the most colourful Naija videos of 2021.
With an unarguably immense singing talent, Chike has successfully broken the curse where many Nigerian singers who come from talent shows struggle or eventually fail to make it big in the wider Nigerian music scene.

With the challenges of being an independent artist in Nigeria quite evident, Chike continues to work on his art and also manage the business side of things relating to his music.

On the 12th of February 2021, just about a year after his debut album, he released the remix of his song “Running (To You)” which was track number twelve in the debut project. The remix which featured Simi exposed his craft to a new audience across the globe, gaining him millions of new fans and listeners across Nigeria, Africa and beyond. The video which was released alongside the audio has over 46 million views on YouTube and was one of the most watched Nigerian music videos of 2021 on the platform. The record earned a nomination for the Most Played RnB Song at the 2021 Net Honours (Awards).

Building on his newfound success, Chike announced his sophomore album, The Brother’s Keeper and finally after some unforeseen circumstances and setbacks the album was finally slated for release on the 25th of August 2022.

The Brother’s Keeper album houses sixteen tracks with three features and about forty-nine minutes of listening time. Flavour, YCee and South African singer, Azana.
