Who Is Ice Prince?
Panshak Henry Zamani, popularly known as Ice Prince, is a Nigerian recording artist. He was born on October 30, 1984, in Minna City. His family relocated to Jos, Plateau state where he spent a better part of his childhood. Henry’s passion and interest in music manifested at an early age while still in school.
The artist began writing Hip Hop songs in 1998 and would perform them at parties, events, and other public gatherings. He graduated to producing songs in the early 2000s and eventually created a group named ECOMOG with his buddies. After a year, the group broke up, so in 2004, the rapper started Loopy Crew with M.I, Jesse Jagz, Ruby, Lindsey, Eve, and Taz.
His days at Murumba Primary School instilled a sense of success in him especially beaus his favourite P Square brothers schooled here. Thus, Ice Prince wanted to follow in their steps to fame and he got it all with determination. He would thereafter compete in the Hennessey y Talent Search competition in 2009 and eventually won the event, which launched his career and made him a well-known solo singer.
Ice Prince earned the attention of many stakeholders in the Nigerian music industry courtesy of his first album dubbed ‘Everybody Loves Ice Prince’. The name of the album was motivated by the loss of his mother. He explained that he received a lot of love and care from family, friends, and fans after the loss, and that made him realize just how much he was loved.
The 17-track album housed the music star’s breakthrough song ‘Oleku’. The song went viral and became an anthem across the airwaves in Nigeria. It dominated various top music charts for months making Ice Prince one of the most sought-after artists. There are also numerous remixes of the song that were done both by upcoming and established artists.
In 2012, he started releasing songs from his second studio album ‘Fire of Zamani’. The first track to be released was ‘Aboki’ which was treated to a warm reception among the fans. He proceeded to work with renowned producer Chopstix on ‘More’ which was the second track on the album. At the beginning of 2013, Ice Prince teamed up with top artists Sarkodie, Zikid, Mercy Johnson, M.I, and Khuli Chana to release ‘Aboki Remix’. The remix was followed by ‘Gimme Dat’ and ‘V.I.P’.
From 2015 to 2016, he released songs from his third album titled ‘Jos To The World.' This was his first album to be produced outside Chocolate City's record label. Reports indicate that the album was mixed and mastered by Universal Studio in the US. The album housed 19 songs and featured top African music stars such as Phyno, Timaya, Yemi Alade, Vanessa Mdee, Tiwa Savage, and many others.
Aside from the three studio albums, the singer also released two EPs; ‘Trash Can’ in 2015 and ‘C.O.L.D’ in 2018. ‘Trash Can’ had six songs, namely; ‘Confess’, ‘Marry You’, ‘Nobody’, ‘Matunmina’, ‘Elegushi’, and ‘One Day’. ‘C.O.L.D’ on the other hand had four songs including; ‘Shutdown’, ‘Space Funk’, ‘Hit Me Up’ and ‘Die For Your Love(interlude)’.
