The song starts off on a captivating melody that builds on as the song goes on. Songstress Ruby introduces the first verse of the song with her smooth mesmerizing vocals immediately hooking the listener. Otile Brown jumps in on the hook delivering as he always does. Despite being a love song, where the artist depicts a longing for a loved one, the song also explores themes of abuse and the toxic side of relationships. The visuals capture this perfectly by telling a story of a lady who is in an abusive relationship and ends up finding love and a safe space in the arms of another man. Despite being released a year ago, One Call experienced a resurgence in popularity on TikTok following the passing on of TikTok influencer Brian Chira, who had often featured it as his favorite tune.
