Who is Kcee?

He is an award-winning singer and songwriter from Nigeria. His real name is Kingsley Chinweike Okonkwo. He was born in April 1979. He burst into the African music scene in 2013 with the smash hit 'Limpopo'. Since then he has become an African sensation.

Kcee Journey and Breakthrough

He is from Anambra state in Nigeria. He was formerly part of the Kc Presh singing duo. His journey as a singer started in 1999 when he was about 20 years old after meeting Precious John at a local church. The two friends formed a music group known as Kc Precious and went to win a music competition known as Star Quest TV; a competition which earned them a record deal with Kennis Music record label.

The group released great hits that include; Shokari Bobo, Everybody Dance, Sio Nkpo, Kc Presh Anthem among many others. After 12 years of being together, the Kc Presh duo disbanded. Following the disbandment Kcee decided to go solo.He later signed a record deal with the Five Star Music, a label by his brother known as E - Money and went on to release a successful single known as Limpopo which took Nigeria by storm.

He released his debut album titled 'Take Over' in 2013. The album saw the talented singer working with A List Nigerian artists such as D'Banj, Timaya, Wizkid, Davido and Don Jazzy. It established Kcee as a solo artist and one of the most on demand Nigerian artists. In 2017, he released his sophomore album known as 'Attention to Detail' featuring top artists such as 2Face Idibia, Tekno, Phyno, Sauti Sol, Patoranking, Falz, Flavour and Ghana's Shatta Wale.

Awards Won by Kcee as a Solo Artist
Limpopo won the award for Song Of The Year At The 2013 Headies Awards. His debut album Take Over, won the award for Hip-hop World Revelation of the year at the 2014 Headies Awards. In 2013, he won the City Entertainment Awards with Limpopo being recognized as The Most Popular Song Of The Year.
