Taiwo and Kehinde Lijadu the Lijadu sisters were identical, twins, born on October 22, 1948. They sang in English and Yoruba and the music was a blend of Jazz, Afrobeats, Reggae and Waka. The Lijadu sisters are actively performed from the mid-1960s to the 1980s. They released the first single “Iya Mi Jowo” in 1968 performed with Ginger Baker’s band Salt at the 1972 Munich Olympics games and released for albums from 1976 to 1979. The sisters moved to the US in the 1980s and performed at various venues. In 1984 Shanachie records release the compilation of their previous work under the name Double Trouble. In 2014 they performed on the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon with the Atomic Bomb Band, and David Byrne. Kehinde sadly passed away five years later.
