Lyrics

There’s a new kid on the Block and he is not here to play. I’m talking about D Voice the newly signed WCB Wasafi artist who recently released an exceptional album titled Swahili Kid that. From the title, it is clear that the D Voice chose to explore the Coastal Swahili music style as the album incorporates sounds of Bongo Flava, Amapibongo and Singeli while also evoking feelings of love which is a theme that is heavily associated with Bongo music. Swahili kid has ten tracks with features from other Wasafi artists such as Zuchu, Mbosso, Lava Lava and Diamond Platnumz. Umenifunza is the first track of the album the starts off slow setting the Swahili vibe of the album. Mtamu, a singeli sound tune follows next introducing the listener to the artist’s genre which feels like a way of expressing his identity to the listeners. Bam Bam is the third tune on the album featuring Zuchu a typical bongo Flava tune with slight hints of soft Amapiano beats that makes it very catchy. The Amapiano vibe continues as we flow to the next tune Mpeni Taarifa featuring Mbosso. This is a captivating song however it somehow feels like a commercial hit that wouldn’t be instantly associated with D Voice. Chori Chori, the fifth song takes us back to the original vibe that the listener was introduced to in the beginning. Zuchu is featured again on the sixth track Nimezama, a dreamy love song and we can’t deny that the chemistry between the two is unmatched. Turudiane with a typical Bongo Flava sound to it follows next featuring Lava Lava. The last three songs on the album Lolo, Kama Wengine featuring Diamond Platnumz and Mungu Baba are of the Singeli sound which is quite the way to end the album if you ask me. Swahili Kid is a well put together work of art that is quite enjoyable to listen to and D Voice is one very promising artist you should be on the lookout out for.
