Who is Pheelz?

Phillip Kayode Moses, popularly known as Pheelz, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and music producer. He was born on 5th June 1994 in Lagos, Nigeria, where he spent a better part of his childhood. His talent and passion for music manifested at a very early age of 10 years as a singer in church.

Pheelz started off as a music producer before he became a singer. His work as a record producer date back to his days at Coded Tunes record label where he crossed paths with celebrated Nigerian artist Olamide.

The youngster’s breakthrough as a music producer came in 2012 courtesy of Olamide’s ‘YBNL’ album, in which he had produced two songs; ‘First of All’ and ‘Fucking with the Devil’. The two tracks went viral and performed incredibly well, making Pheelz one of the most sought-after music producers in the Nigerian music industry.

In 2013 his star shone even brighter after he was featured as an executive producer of Olamide’s ‘Baddest Guy Ever Liveth’ album. The album attracted even more success and achievement in his career. He earned nominations for prestigious awards such as The Headies and Nigeria Entertainment Awards. In 2014 he won The Headies award in the ‘Producer of The Year’ category.

Some of the other top-ranking albums that Pheelz has produced include; ‘Ghetto University’ by Runtown, ‘The Chairman’ by M.I, and ‘Seyi or Shay’ by Seyi Shay.

In 2021 Pheelz made his debut as a singer courtesy of ‘Hear Me Out’ EP which housed five songs. The five songs included; ‘Wayward Girl’, ‘Somebody’, ‘La Vida’, ‘One Life’, and ‘Many Men’. The EP was treated to a warm reception among the fans. A number of the songs on the EP rose up the ranks to dominate the airwaves and music trending charts.

His success record continued in 2022 when he released ‘Finesse’ featuring BNXN. The song went viral across various music streaming platforms and gained millions of streams. Within approximately six months of its release, it had gained close to 50 million views on YouTube. The success of the song saw him release its lyrics version featuring BUJU.

‘Finesse’ thrust Pheelz into the global market after being featured on international music platforms such as the Billboard Global 200, UK Afrobeats Singles Chart, and World Digital Song Sales among others. The record-breaking hit song earned the attention of various stakeholders in the international music industry leading him to sign a deal with Warner UK.

Some of his other top-ranking songs include; ‘Electricity’ featuring Davido and ‘Somebody’.

The music star’s gradual but steady and consistent rise to stardom, as narrated in his biography, has seen him become one of the most successful Afrobeat artists globally. He has been praised by many for taking the African music genres to the international market.
