About Raphael Camidoh

Raphael Camidoh Kofi Attachie popularly known as just Camidoh is a Ghanaian singer and songwriter. He is regarded as one of the most talented artists in Ghana.
He was born in Aflao, a town in the Ketu South district in the Volta region. He attended secondary school at the Bishop Herman College in Kpando, Volta region. He majored in General arts and then furthered at the University of Professional Studies in Accra, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing.
Camidoh made a name for himself by doing covers of popular songs. Amongst his popular cover songs is Mama (Nana Refix) originally sung by Nigerian superstar singer and songwriter, Peruzzi. His Fireboy DML’s Peru cover released in 2021 is also one of his more popular cover records.

In 2018, Camidoh signed with Grind Don’t Stop Records and in the same year, he released his first single titled My Lover. The new single featured one of the country’s finest singers, Darkovibes. Following the successful release of his debut single, he followed it up with “The Best” featuring Kelvyn Boy and Available featuring UK-based Ghanaian rapper and singer Eugy.
After releasing a number of successful singles, Camidoh released his debut project titled the Contingency Plan EP. The extended play project housed six tracks amongst them is the popular record “Maria”. The EP is basically an Afropop project themed around love and romance. Notably, the Contingency Plan EP has no features.

In 2021, Camidoh bagged another high-profile collaboration with one of Africa’s most sought rappers, Kwesi Arthur. The record “Dance with You” has since garnered over six hundred thousand views on the popular video-sharing platform, YouTube.

In March 2021, he gave an exciting performance at Citi TV’s Entertainment Achievement Awards. His performance on the night impressed Franklin Cudjoe, the Chief Executive Officer of the IMANI Center for Policy and Education and he gifted him $500.

On the 19th of November 2021, Camidoh released “Sugarcane” the record that changed his career and serves as his first hit song. Soon after its release, “Sugarcane” became a trending record in Ghana with many of the country’s TikTok content creators using the song in their videos. This gave the song even more reach and as a result it reached number 5 on Shazam’s top 200 most searched Afropop songs.

Five months after the release of “Sugarcane”, Camidoh signed up fellow Ghanaian singer, King Promise, Nigerian superstar singer, Mayorkun and British rapper, Darkoo for the remix. Few weeks later, the song went up the charts and became the number one song in Nigeria, Ghana and a number of other African countries.

Camidoh’s music style is basically, Afropop, Afrobeats, and R&B, and cuts across different other genres. His earliest musical influence was American singer Akon. According to him, he discovered Akon on YouTube while browsing in a cyber cafe with his cousin. He was then inspired to start doing music with Akon as his biggest inspiration. Speaking on a Twitter Space hosted by Ghana’s social media influencer, Kalyjay, Akon acknowledged the fact that he has heard Camidoh’s Sugarcane and even went ahead to reveal that the song is in his top ten record and that he plays it everyday.
His music has paid off and earned him several award nominations like; Afrobeats/Afropop Artiste of the Year and Best Afrobeats Song at Vodafone Music Awards 2022.
