The 2023 general elections is in barely two weeks and one of the leading candidates ahead of the polls is Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC. Aside from being the card-carrying member of the ruling party, here are other facts about him that might interest you.
1. Bola Tinubu is married to Oluremi Tinubu, a third-term senator currently representing Lagos Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly. She is also a member of the APC.
2. Tinubu was a prominent member of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) before joining the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), which later merged to form the All Progressives Congress (APC).
3. Tinubu was instrumental in the formation of the APC coalition that defeated the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2015 presidential elections.
4. He has been recognized for his political and economic contributions, receiving several awards and honours, including the Global Leadership Award and the African Leadership Award for Good Governance in 2019.

7. He was elected as a senator representing Lagos West Constituency in the Nigerian third republic which lasted from 1992 to 1993.
8. He is the 12th governor of Lagos state and served two terms from the year 1999 to 2003.
9. In 2003, Tinubu created an additional 37 Local Council Development Areas in Lagos state. The presidency was not happy about this and this led to the seizure of Lagos state’s Federal Allocation.
10. Although born in Lagos state, Tinubu is originally from Iragbiji town in Osun State.
