The 2023 general election is on the 25th of February 2023 and just like other previous elections in Nigeria, there’ll be millions of new voters who will for the first time be exercising their civic duty.
INEC, the independent body tasked with the responsibility of overseeing the elections released an official guideline for voters on how to vote in the forthcoming general elections.
The first phase of the elections is for the Presidential and National Assembly on the 25th of February 2023 while the second phase, the Governorship and State Houses of Assembly Election will take place on the 11th of March 2023.
Here’s a guide for you;
- Voting starts at 8:30 am
- As soon as you arrive at your polling unit, join the queue (if there is one) and present your voter's card (PVC) for accreditation using the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).
- Confirm your name is on the voter register for that polling unit.
- You will be authenticated using fingerprint or face ID.
- Once you’re accredited you will be issued a ballot paper.
- Take your ballot paper to the voting cubicle and cast your vote for your preferred candidate.
- It is advised you stay around 300 metres away from the voting area after voting to witness the counting and sorting of votes.
- Election closes by 2:30 pm.
