Is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and stage performer whose original name is Sunday Adeniyi. He is often cited as one of the first acts to export the Juju genre to the international markets and is often regarded as one the best and most iconic Nigerian singers of all time.
He is also known for popularizing the Juju genre which is a hybrid of Western Music and traditional African music in Nigeria and abroad.

Career Beginnings And Breakthroughs

King Sunny Ade hails from Ondo State Nigeria and he is a Yoruba Man. He was born into a royal family in 1946 whereas he was a member of the Adesida Dynasty.

King Sunny Ade's mother Maria Adegeye was a princess and worked as a trader while his father was a pianist at a local church. At the age of 5, King Sunny Ade was already into music. He was enrolled in a grammar school in Ondo State but later dropped out at the age of 17 to pursue a music career in Nigeria's capital, Lagos.

In the 1960s the young Sunny Ade joined Federal Rythm Daddies, a music band owned by Moses Olaiya but later in 1967, he formed his own band called Green Spots which performed in many parts of Nigeria.

In 1974 King Sunny Ade founded a label which was responsible for producing and distributing his songs and albums but in the 1980s he gained a huge fanbase in America and Europe following his three albums which are Juju Music, Synchro System and Aura became hit in international markets.
King Sunny Ade Ade holds the record of being the first African artist to get two nominations at the Grammies and also some songs he created have also been featured in many Hollywood films such as Breathless in 1986 and in 1987 he acted in the American Teen Comedy Film O.C And Stiggs.
