A decade after his death, Zambia still remembers and appreciates the works of late hip-hop star Soosh Matrix. Born Tendai Maswiswi, he was one of the pioneers of the African hip-hop scene.

Before moving to Zambia to study Radio Presentation, he spent 8 years in Zimbabwe as a member of a local hip-hop collective and has both production and performance experience.

Soosh worked as a radio deejay and club deejay and emcee for Hot 87.7 FM, a private radio station in Lusaka, Zambia. He stood out as one of Zambia's most respected hip hop artist.

He was a great link to big artists who later formed XYZ Entertainment.

Among those most affected by his death were Slap Dee who had just founded XYZ Entertainment moments before his death.

“Soosh was like a brother to me – a brother who supported XYZ and represented it as his crew. I still don’t believe he’s gone and it will take me some time to come to terms with what has happened. We will soon work on the ‘Unwritten Testament Reload’ Soosh’s album, and all funds raised from album sales will go to his child and to the mother of his child,” Slap Dee said.
