Ugandan artists Rema Namakula and Winnie Nwagi are friends and have over the years had a healthy competition in the music industry.

Blessed with smooth vocals, both artists have conquered the music industry with their love songs. Their music style is very special, making them some of the most booked acts for local introduction and wedding ceremonies. Rema Namakula made her music debut while doing her A-Levels. She later became a backup singer and worked with Bebe Cool under Gagamel International. Later, she parted ways with Gagamel, releasing her first solo project 'Oli Wange' in 2013. On her part, Winnie Nwagi gained prominence in 2014 when she emerged second runner-up in the second season of CocaCola singing competition. It’s from this competition that she was spotted and signed by Swangz Avenue; a premier record label in Kampala.


Rema's debut single became a huge success, winning her 4 Hipipo Awards that year. She has since won more Hipipo Awards and recognition all over the world. In 2016, she was selected for Coke Studio Africa. On her part, Winnie has won numerous awards in just a few years since her debut including Song of the year and breakout artist. She is one of the most followed musicians on social media.


Rema has been in the industry for over 5 years but is yet to release an album. Speaking during a past interview, she said in an interview, she said she is scared of releasing a music album because Ugandan music fans are yet to fully embrace the culture of albums. She, however, noted that she may decide to release one in the coming days.

Winnie Nwagi is also yet to release an album, In 2020, she, however, released a compilation dubbed 'Best Of Winnie Nwagi' consisting top songs she has released in the last five years.

Winnie Nwagi's YouTube account was created in April 2019 and currently has 31.9K subscribers. She has a cumulative viewership of 3,412,615. On the other hand, Rema Namakula launched her channel in January 2014 and currently has 254K subscribers and a cumulative viewership of 54,354,20.

Rema Namakula boasts 836K on Instagram and 1.3M on Facebook while Winnie Nwagi stands at 964K followers on Instagram and 474K on Facebook.
