Fast-rising teenage Nigerian singer Ayra Starr has released an official music video for the single ‘DITR’ off her debut self-titled EP.
‘DITR’ which stands for ‘diamond in the rough’, is a song that explains the coming-of-age of the modern-day teenager—experimenting with drugs, peer pressure and all the experiences that teenagers face.

While introducing the new song, the 18-year-old singer in a tweet said: “DITR music video out now !!! LINK IN MY BIO ,so excited for this one!”

According to Ayra Starr, the song was meant to inspire Gen Z, which are her peers.
“Everything’s going to be all right. Your parents want the best for you. I understand what you’re going through,” Ayra Starr says about the song, in an interview with Apple Music.
“I wrote the song with my brother Milar (I write most of my songs with him). He came up with the melodies,” she added.

The ‘DITR’ video directed by Lekan tells a story of a teenager from the single family perspective.
It also highlights challenges that the modern-day teenager faces influenced by money, power and drugs.
This is the second music video that Ayra Starr has released off the 5-track EP which was released on January 22, 2021.
The first visuals were for the hit single ‘Away’ which recently enabled Ayra Starr to go into record books as the youngest female afrobeats singer to have a music video surpass 3 million views on YouTube.
