Jimmy Johnson Essien, also known as Jimmy D Psalmist, is a Nigerian gospel musician, songwriter, record producer, and worship leader who has collaborated with Mercy Chinwo, Sinach, Prospa Ochimana, Joe Praise, Eben, and Ada Ehi. He was born on August 25, 1983, as the son of Rev. Dr./Mrs. J.J. Essien is from Nigeria's southern region.

Career and Early Life
As an artist, Jimmy D Psalmist started singing at the tender age of seven and has progressed to become revered praise and worship leader at Dunamis International Gospel Center in Abuja, with headquarters in Abuja, and thus under the spiritual Guardianship of Dr Pst. Paul Enenche.
The “Holy Spirit” hit star went to the University of Calabar where he graduated with a second-class higher division in Physics.
Jimmy D Psalmist, the Mighty Man of War hit singer, discovered his passion for music at a young age and pursued it.
His debut album 'Golden City' featured breathtaking collaborations with some celebrated rap sensation stars like Freke Umoh, BOUQUI, RnB ICON Samsong, K2 and others. The album, which features sounds from 'Mekoyo' and other fantastic producers, is a must-have.
Today, Jimmy D Psalmist is serving at Shepherds House Assembly International Abuja, which is led spiritually by Rev. Dr Joshua Talena.
Jimmy has a strong hunger and desire to see the church and nations throughout the world be inspired by his music, books, and performances to praise God, be healed, motivated, and encouraged, and have their faith grow to a level where they may access the reality of God's miraculous abilities.
He has given performances all over the world, including in the UK, Europe, the Caribbean, and other African nations.

Personal Life
Jimmy is married to Mary Joy Johnson, and together they have two children David and Alexis. His wife is an entrepreneur and the CEO of Jimaybaby Luxury, a children's clothing company.

Awards
To his name, Jimmy D Psalmist boasts of having received numerous awards at international markets, including the MARANATHA AWARDS AFRICA for best song of the year 2018 and 2020 from Kenya, the SAUTI AWARDS USA for best song of the year 2018 and Inspirational Song of the Year 2019, among many others. He has also received numerous nominations for awards in various parts of the world.
