Jandira Sassingui Neto (Huambo, April 28, 1983), better known as Pérola is an Angolan singer and songwriter./> Born in the province of Huambo, Pérola is the daughter of a doctor mother and a lawyer and musician father (Manuel Sassingui, already deceased, was part of a musical group, Estrelas do Sul). At the age of nine, with her mother and three brothers, she had to move from Huambo to Luanda because of the Angolan Civil War. Four years later they went to Windhoek, capital of Namibia. He studied Law at the University of Pretoria, in South Africa. Here he got his first big break in the music business, in the talent show Coca Cola Pop Stars. She was eventually disqualified because she was not South African. (more)
