Whilst Wizkid was at the O2 arena in London performing in his sold-out Made in Lagos concert, he was also winning at the historic Apollo centre in New York where the BET Soul Train awards 2021 was held.

Wizkid won the Best Collaboration for his record Essence featuring Tems, a category where Essence had to compete with records like Come Through by H.E.R feat Chris Brown, Kiss Me More by Doja Cat feat SZA, You’re Mines Still by Young Bleu feat Drake, Girl Like Me by Jazmine Sullivan feat H.E.R and Go Crazy Remix by Chris Brown feat Young Thug, Future, Lil Durk & Latto.

This year, Wizkid and Tems scored five nominations each in the BET Soul Train Awards but have only managed to jointly win the Best Collaboration award with their global smash hit record, Essence.
