Celebrated Ugandan dancehall artist Nutty Neithan has advised fellow artists who can't handle going solo to get managers, arguing that being an independent artist is one of the hardest things in the music industry.

In an interview with Vibe Mix, the 'Gwabise' hit maker urged fellow artists to treasure managers who treat them well, noting that running a solo career is hard and expensive.

"You survive easily if you establish yourself as a brand but if it's management that made you, you can't handle it because you have no idea how they are running things. I respect all managers and encourage artists to always respect managers who understand you,” he said.

Nutty Neithan quit Humble Management and joined Boom Bark Records in July 2018. Later that year, he announced his exit from the label, claiming that he felt the label was giving too much attention to Nina Roz who was signed under the same label back then.

Having been an independent artist for the last four years, Nutty Neithan noted that it takes determination, hard work and total focus to get your music out.

"Independent artists should also work hard because it's not easy. I've been an independent artist for four years now. Although it hasn't been easy, you still get to hear my music out there," Nutty said.

“An artist is supposed to have a sensible person besides him. I may be independent but I still don't work alone. I have a whole team," he added.
