Wizkid, Tems Bags 5 Nominations At Soul Train Music Awards

Nigerian singers Wizkid and Tems continue to expand their territories and influences in global music scenes following their 2020-collaboration ‘Essence’.

The now global hit has already made a name for the two musicians and they don’t seem to be done. Wizkid and Tems have just earned a record of 5 nominations each at the 2021 Soul Train Music Awards an annual music awards show that honours the best in African-American culture, music and entertainment. 

Wizkid Hints at Dropping New Album

Three of the awards for each artist are for the single ‘Essence’ nominated for Song of the Year, Best Collaboration and Video of the Year, a nomination that makes it the first African video in Soul Train Music Awards.

Wizkid’s Made in Lagos album has also been nominated for the Album of the Year award. Wizkid has also been nominated for the songwriters’ award for the single ‘Essence’ while Tems has bagged a nomination for Best New Artist.

Wizkid is nominated in the same category with some of the music powerhouses among them Bruno Mars, H.E.R, and Chris Brown. The awards ceremony for the 2021 Soul Train Music Awards has been scheduled to be held on 20 November 2021.
