Although the list has gone viral on social media, there are reports that it did not originate from Forbes; a publication known to rank the world’s richest people based on various categories.

In the list doing rounds on social media, there is no procedure for calculating the net worth. For Forbes, the publication always highlights the formula used to arrive at the net worth of the persons featured. It is worth mentioning that, Forbes has never released the rich list for African musicians.
