Harmonize Reveals Plans to Open Konde Worldwide Branch in Zanzibar

Tanzanian singer Harmonize has revealed plans to expand his Konde Music Worldwide label to the Zanzibar Island. If the plan is realized, Zanzibar will be Konde Music Worldwide’s first subsidiary outside the Tanzania mainland.

Through his Instagram account, Harmonize noted that Zanzibar has a lot of potential but many upcoming musicians lack a platform to expand their trade.

He noted that currently, for musicians to make it in bongo, they need to be based in Dar es Salaam. Therefore, Harmonize revealed that talks were ongoing with his management to open a Konde Worldwide HQ in Zanzibar in the coming days.

He also urged the government step-in and nature talents from the Island.

“Tunaomba sanaa ya Zanzibar kutazamwa jicho sawa na Tanzania bara sisi kama (konde music worldwide ) Konde Gang tupo katika mazungumzo ya mwisho kabisa na viongozi wangu kuona tunawezaje kuwa na kondegang h.q zanzibar na kusaidia kukuza hii sanaaa ya muziki Zanzibar japo kwa kidogo tulicho nacho. Sanaa ni kazi!  Vijana ni nguvu kazi,” posted Harmonize.

Harmonize further recognized past musicians from Zanzibar including Berry Black for setting the pace for the bongo scene. Notable names to emerge from the island include Zuchu and her mother Khadija Kopa.
