Tanzanian singer Harmonize has revealed plans to expand his Konde Music Worldwide label to the Zanzibar Island. If the plan is realized, Zanzibar will be Konde Music Worldwide’s first subsidiary outside the Tanzania mainland.
Through his Instagram account, Harmonize noted that Zanzibar has a lot of potential but many upcoming musicians lack a platform to expand their trade.
He noted that currently, for musicians to make it in bongo, they need to be based in Dar es Salaam. Therefore, Harmonize revealed that talks were ongoing with his management to open a Konde Worldwide HQ in Zanzibar in the coming days.
He also urged the government step-in and nature talents from the Island.
Harmonize further recognized past musicians from Zanzibar including Berry Black for setting the pace for the bongo scene. Notable names to emerge from the island include Zuchu and her mother Khadija Kopa.
