Konde Worldwide boss Harmonize has issued a reality check for East African musicians over the popularity of their content. According to Harmonize, musicians from the region need to put in more work for their material to hit continental success.
Through a post on his Instagram, Harmonize stated that there is a perception among bongo musicians that they are big across the continent. However, the singer notes that after spending time in Nigeria and listening to Nigerian musicians, that notion is not true.
He said having listened to several Nigerian radio stations and visiting clubs, only Zuchu and Diamond are big musicians in the country.
"Tunavyodanganyana kujiona wakubwa Afrika. Kila mtu anaweza kuwa mshindi Afrika Mashariki, ndugu wasanii amka fuata ndoto zako unaweza kuwa wewe, ukweli mtupu," he posted.
In recent months, Harmonize has been a vocal advocate of bongo musicians switching up their style to meet international markets. He recently called for musicians to largely use English in their music because it is a universal language.
In this line, the singer has released several hit songs in English, showcasing his versatility. The singer is currently in Nigeria working on his ‘High School’ album set to be released later this year after an initial postponement from 2020.
