A year ago, rivalry in the Bongo music scene was mainly between WCB and Kings Music. However, the entry of Konde Worldwide has tilted the scale as the record label has been involved in a fierce rivalry with WCB on all fronts. On a positive note, this rivalry has inspired the bongo music scene to become the best in East Africa.

Here is how the competition has elevated Bongo music in the region:

International collabos

International collaborations are part of marketing bongo music to the world. Almost all artists from the two stables have in the past worked with an international act. Even newcomers like Zuchu and Ibraah have both worked with Nigeria’s Joe Boy. It so happens that each time one of the labels releases an international collabo, the same is replicated by the other label. For instance Diamond released ‘Waah’ featuring Koffi Olomide, a few months later, Harmonize released ‘Attitude’ featuring Awilo Longomba and H-baba.

Improved music quality

There is no doubt that bongo offers the best quality in music, which goes down to the competition between WCB and Konde Worldwide. Every time WCB teams drop new music, Konde Gang takes it a notch higher and vice versa. The focus on quality offers the blueprint for the rest of the industry.

Nurturing talent

For any upcoming talent, going through either WCB or Konde Gang is almost a guarantee of success. Both Diamond and Harmonize have built a reputation of guiding artists to becoming superstars. For instance, Zuchu is on the way to become one of Africa’s biggest female musicians. The same applies to Konde Gang’s Ibraah who has achieved great success in under one year in the music industry. Zuchu and Ibraah currently have some of the best songs in Tanzania and the East African region.

Fan base growth

Both WCB and Konde Worldwide command a loyal fan base across the region. This fan base consistently supports their favorite acts every time a new project comes out. It is worth noting that Konde fans do not want to be outshined by WCB, therefore they massively support Konde artists. The same also applies for WCB and its fans.  Most importantly, a formidable fan base is the key to any music growth.
