He is a singer and songwriter from Nigeria whose real name is General Ayinla Kollington. He was born on August 20 1953 in Ilota Kwara Nigeria. He is widely known as one of the pioneers of Nigerian Fuji Music and he is also the founder of Kollington Records. His other monikers include Baba Alatika or Baba Alagbe.

Kollington Ayinla Journey And Breakthrough

Kollington Ayinla is the only child from her mom and his dad died when he was still a baby. His mom was not happy when he decided to join the army and when he decided to leave the military for Music his mom was very happy.

The Nigerian legend started recording under the EMI record label in 1974 and his popularity grew exponentially in 1978 when he started to infuse Bata Drums in his music. His musical prowess made many music executives notice his presence in the Nigerian industry and finally, in 1982 he opened his own record label called Kollington Records.

Under the label, Kollington was able to release a lot of music where as he released about 50 albums which were domestically successful. In 2019 in an interview with the Sun newspaper, the singer made it clear that the song Ijo Yoyo was the one which made him popular and that his friend Sikiru was the one who persuaded him to dump the army and join the military.

Kollington Ayinla is also known for his fashion consciousness whereas in his early days he used to work with different designers such as Vivid Imagination and Latris and today the singer is still known for his good fashion taste.
