2023 was a year defined by hardships and moments of uncertainty across Africa; nonetheless, amid the depressing news we still managed to make fun of some of those moments and our hope was restored. Through the storms of adversity, survival stories of courage, compassion, and triumph stood tall. From communities rallying together to overcome adversity to individuals defying the odds, here is a list of 10 biggest news across Africa in 2023 that remind us that despite the dark times we still survived.
1.Shakahola cult left everyone in dismay after Kenyan Pastor led to the death of over 400 members by convincing them to fast so as to meet Jesus.
2.Gabon coup.Seems like coups have become the in thing as every other day we hear of a government being overthrown. The Gabon coup hit the headlines and made waves after president Ali Bongo took to the socials to ask for help after been overthrown just after the announcement of election results.
3.Kenyans protests over high cost of living. Led by the Opposition Party leader, Kenyans took to the streets to protest the high cost of living in the country after more taxes were imposed on them.
4.War in Sudan that has led to the displacement of many and loss of lives.

9.Pope’s Visit to countries experiencing war such as Sudan and Congo. This was not the only high profile visit as Prince Charles also came to Kenya.
