KENYA: Popular Kalenjin Artist Diana Chelele's Troubling Last Words Before Her Brutal Murder Revealed

Sometimes it’s said that people can sense it when death comes a knocking. We’ve seen it many times when celebrities and ordinary people die leaving last words that seem to suggest they knew what was coming.

Last year it was actress Nana Gichuru, who died in a gruesome accident and her last words seemed to celebrate the life she lived (however short it was). Unfortunately it was not to be the same for the popular Kalenjin singer, Diana Chelele who died lamenting all that had gone wrong in her life.

Diana’s lifeless body was found in her house with deep stab wounds on her abdominal area prompting police to rule it a murder case. She was found by her sister who only came to check up on her after the singer had gone missing for three days.

And earlier today actress Barbara Chepkoech Adams also known as Waridi to many, who was close to the late Chelele claimed to have found an audio which the singer left before her death.

The audio clip which was originally recorded in the singer’s local dialect, Kipsigis, is a prayer of lamentation to God through which the Diana asks God, "…Why did you let me sing only to take everything away?"

Chelele was known to have had marital issues with her husband, an AP officer who is also said to have taken away all the singers assets a long with their children. This is believed to be what caused the singers failed suicide attempt that happened last year.

The prayer also reveals how her husband forced her to do music only to take away all the proceeds to the music. Chelele also revealed in the prayer that she suspected her husband and her friends had a ploy to take her life after years of mental, emotional and physical torture.

She says she tried seeking help from the region’s Governor but never got an audience and the only person who seemed to be in her corner, a surveyor who she sought help from to restore her land taken away from her, was allegedly killed by her husband.

In the prayer, Diana Chelele further sought forgiveness from anyone she had wronged.

Speaking about her demise, police who are conducting the investigations say that her drinks were spiked after the Kass Marathon that happened recently, and it still remains unclear what happened afterwards.

In her Facebook post, Chelele’s friend Barbara Chepkoech feels in part responsible for the unfortunate turn of events saying they had grown apart after her move to America, but offered to adopt the late singer’s children in atonement.
