Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ Books Him a Slot in Guinness Book of Records

Afrorave singer Rema is now a new entrant in the Guinness Book of Records following the success of his song ‘Calm Down’ in North Africa and the Middle East. 
Rema has made history by being the first artist to rank top in the first Middle Eastern and North Africa (MENA) music chart.

He released ‘Calm Down’ in February 2022 as a prelude to his debut album ‘Rave & Roses’. 
It became his most successful song yet, and it drew interest from the US where he did a remix of the song featuring American R&B star Selena Gomez.

The original ‘Calm Down’ hit has 453 million view so far on YouTube while the remix has 435 million stream on the giant video streaming platform in just eight months. 
‘Calm Down’ is the first Nigerian song to amass such an incredible amount of streams in less than a year. 


This song was at the top of the Indian Music Industry Chart earlier in 2023. It also broke a record by being the first African song to reach number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100.

""Calm Down"" remix has won numerous awards throughout Europe. It has plaques in Italy, Germany, Switzerland, and Spain in addition to a Diamond plaque in France. 
Additionally, it has received platinum awards in the US and the UK.
'Calm Down' has more over 2 billion streams across all platforms making it the most-watched Afrobeats song worldwide.
