Ghanaian artists pulled a great one with albums for the year as the world got to know more of what the West African nation was up to.

It was a year with loads of great music by great artists – some new to the industry but stunning in every way. Here is a compilation of the top 10 albums released in Ghana in 2022.

  • The Villain I Never Was by Black Sherif

The new kid on the block Black Sherif committed everything he had to his debut album, which is a musical masterpiece. It stands for the lifelong sacrifice he made to realise his dream.

‘The Villain I Never Was’ has 14 tracks, the most popular being ‘Kwaku The Traveller’ and ‘Second Sermon (Remix)’ featuring Burna Boy. Click HERE to download.

  • Jamz by Sarkodie

The Ghana rap legend wouldn’t let the year end without letting his fans enjoy his eighth studio album ‘Jamz’ which is a beautiful body of work. He features Black Sherif, Cina Soul, Lojay Ink Boy, King Promise, Oxlade, Joeboy, Kranium and BNXN on the 10-track album.

  • G.I.N.A by Amerado

  • Songs of Peter by Fameye

Fameye outdid himself in this 13-track album. He features Kwesi Arthur, Pure Akan, Amakye The Rapper, Ofori Amponsah, Akodaa Seden, and Suzzway among others. The project is the rapper's sophomore album.

  • 4Play by KiDi

This one is special by KiDi. The four tracks in this album are a deep concoction of the brewed craft amazingly served to his fans. He gives an aspect of meditation, a different sound with Amapiano and captures a barrage of emotions.

  • Son of Jacob by Kwesi Arthur

Kwesi Arthur made a show with his debut album ‘Son of Jacob’ which is why music pundits term it brutally honest. Throughout this album, Kwesi sings in his native Twi language. However, bits and pieces of English are infused to buttress the message in his records. When you piece these fragments together, you get the impression that they are supporting a topic that is both depressing and spiritual. Then, ‘Adom’ is the real deal in this album.

  • Cross Roads by Medikal, Shatta Wale

In one of Ghana’s unique cases, Dancehall star and legendary rapper Medikal teamed up and released a 10-track collaborative album without any guest appearances. A Medikal and Shatta Wale combo is only bound to produce classic records.

  • 10Thirty by MzVee

There are 10 powerful songs on the album, some of which include well-known musicians from Ghana and Nigeria. Bella Shmurda, Yemi Alade, Tiwa Savage, Stonebwoy, Kwesi Arthur, and Kofi Kinaata were among the artists she featured.

DJ Henryx and Tanzanian artist Harmonize both appeared on this album produced by Kizzy Beats. 10Thirty is MzVee's fifth studio album and her official re-announcement and re-emergence to the scene. Download the album HERE

  • King of Melodies by Kweku Flick
