Ghana’s music scene keeps getting better every day and music projects released in 2022 speak as much about this.

It was a year filled with a ton of fantastic music by fantastic performers, some of which are new to the scene. The top 5 releases brought a new side to the music industry in Ghana. Check out the top 5 EPs released in Ghana this 2022 below: -

  • Enigma by Wendy Shay

Wendy Shay closed the year with a beautiful 7-track EP ‘Enigma’ making it her third body of work. What’s outstanding about this EP is how great she is at experimenting with various sounds.

For example, the mid-tempo love ballad "Murda," features powerful percussion with a Dancehall influence. The percussion is backed by energetic piano chords, mallet accents, a heavy bassline, and an interesting synth line in the chorus. Wendy Shay glides around on the bouncy music with ease. Definitely one of the standout Extended Play projects released in Ghana this year.

  • My Diary by Gyakie

Gyakie's second EP, My Diary, is glossier and tighter-knit than her debut EP, "Seed," which was published in 2020. Although the majority of her lyrics are themed around love and desire, the six-track project's sound is better. She writes and delivers with a lot more confidence and this is evident in the project. It's only a matter of time before she writes her name in list of Ghana music greats.

  • Afro Highlife by Kuami Eugene

This outstanding collection of work has five wonderful melodies without any appearances from guest artists. Eugene leverages this collection of work to demonstrate his stance and persistence in the industry. Another standout EP released in Ghana this 2022.

  • Strongman - Buokrom Boy

Strongman honours his hometown by naming this EP Buokrom Boy, a well-known neighbourhood in Kumasi, the Ashanti Region's capital.

He is at ease with himself, completely functional with his sound and comfortable in his delivery in this project. It is a result of his brilliant wit, keen sense of sound, clever partnerships, and capacity to convey coherent stories.

  • Thywill – Beautiful Sins

‘Beautiful Sins’ a six-track EP by Ghanaian rapper Thywill closes the list. He captures a barrage of emotions in this project in an amazing way. A sure worthy listen.
