Wolfsburg will host Mainz 05 at the Volkswagen Arena on Friday, looking to rebound from a six-goal thrashing at the hands of Borussia Dortmund.

Meanwhile, the visitors will be seeking to snap a four-game losing streak and win their first away game in any competition since October of last year.

Wolfsburg was blasted 6-1 away at Borussia Dortmund last weekend, failing to build on their 4-0 win against Arminia Bielefeld. It was their worst loss since October.

Wolfsburg is currently 13th in the Bundesliga table, six points ahead of the relegation playoff place, which is currently occupied by Stuttgart, whom Die Wolfe will face at the end of the month.

Wolfsburg has only won four of their last 13 league games at home, albeit three of those triumphs have come in the last five games.

For the first time since August 2021, they could win back-to-back home games at the Volkswagen Arena if they take all three points.

After a goalless draw at home against Stuttgart last weekend, Mainz's search for a first win in April continues.

Bo Svensson's side did not have a single shot on target, but they did keep their 10th clean sheet of the season, with league leaders Bayern Munich (11) being the only team in the Bundesliga to have kept more this season.

This season, Mainz has the second-worst away record in the German top tier, with only eight points from 15 games on the road. Only Greuther Furth have garnered less points away from home.

Svensson's team have won just one of their previous 10 league away matches, but they have beaten Wolfsburg in their last two meetings, winning 3-2 at the Volkswagen Arena in May last season and 3-0 at home in December this season, so they will be confident going into Friday's fixture.

Wolfsburg and Mainz haven't been at their best in recent weeks, but both clubs will be optimistic about their prospects of winning on Friday. However, there is now little separating these two squads, and they may be obliged to share the rewards on this occasion.
