Music, just like politics is dynamic and there are scores of artists from around the world who left their bands and embarked on a solo journey. Some made it, while others were consigned to oblivion but such is the world of music.

In South Africa, the script is no different. Here are artists making it big after leaving their bands.

K.O

Teargas was one of the most renowned collectives in South African hip-hop scene before disbanding. Trained as musicians, Teargas was formed by three friends: Ntokzo "K.O”, "Ma-E" Hanabe, and Ntukza. Teargas had several popular singles before disbanding. Following their separation, KO embarked on a solo journey and is making it big in Mzansi.

A-Reece

The Wrecking Crew which A-Reece was a member of went separate ways after a misunderstanding. It was made up of A-Reece, Ecco, Wordz, MashBeatz, Mellow, B3nchMarq and Ex Global. After tehe disbandment, A-reece pursued a solo career and is now considered as one of the best musicians in the country.

Mr JazziQ

Formerly known as JazziDisciples, Josiah De Disciple and Mr JazziQ were a two-piece band formed in 2009. Due to a disagreement, the friends parted ways, and each went on to build a successful career on their own.  Mr JazziQ has maintained his relevance to date.

DJ Maphorisa

The Amapiano godfather plied his musical trade with a defunct band known as Uhuru. He was together with D.J Clap and Mapaino Xelimpilo. However, he later pursued a solo career and is now a global star. He is considered one of the pioneers of Amapiano music.

Emtee

The African Trap Movement (A.T.M) had Emtee as a prominent member. Although the band has disbanded, Emtee's voice continues to resound throughout the South African music scene. His ability to blend various languages into a pleasant trap experience has captivated his South African audience.
