Meet Jordan Katembula: Zambia’s RnB Maestro

Zambian singer, songwriter, and record producer Jordan Katembula better known by his stage name ‘JK’ is widely considered as one of Zambia's first RnB artists. He has five studio albums to his credit and he is proud of this success.
With numerous songs to his name, JK has been engaged in the music industry since 1997. Songs like ‘Elyoni Elyoni’, ‘Akapilipili’, ‘Paduze’ and ‘Soul Survivor’ are some of his best-known works.

His first album dubbed ‘JK’ was released in 2001 and won a nomination for a Kora Award and a Ngoma Award the following year.
Saboi Imboela, Danny, Joe Chibangu, and Loiue X all contributed to this record. Then came JK's second album, ‘Helena’ which has 14 tracks. MC Wabwino, Nasty D, Joe Chibangu, and Oliver Mtukudzi, all of whom passed away recently, appear on the album.
‘Balalolela’, JK's third studio album, was released in 2006 and features production by Raydo of Digital X and TK of Romaside studios. This album included Leo Munthu, Lily T, and Wile.
His fourth album, ‘Akapilipili’ was released in 2010. Kanyimbo, Soul Survivor, Akapilipili, and many other popular songs can be found on this album. Salma Sky sang lead vocals on the album's title track, ‘Akapilipili’.

‘Telemundo Loving’, his fifth studio album, was released in 2014. Telemundo, a popular soap channel notorious for its cheesy romance, inspired the album title. Yemi Alade featured on ‘Paduze’; a song that quickly became a hit single for the album.
