When Zambian hip-hop power head Slap Dee announced his departure to Kalandanya Music Promotions (KMP) a while back it came as a big surprise. A lot was said about this move but the actual reason as to why he moved to KMP never saw the light of day.

However, Slap Dee recently opened up to That Zed Podcast on why he made this surprising move in spite of founding XYZ. He said that the company was insolvent which necessitated his move to KMP where he could make good money from his music.

At XYZ, things were not easy as the label wasn’t bringing in any money at all. His only hope was Daev who was scheduled to release an album which would bring the label money.

However, the young vocalist died in September 2020 in a grisly road accident. His death dealt the label a huge blow that banks allegedly called Slap Dee constantly threating to close XYZ’s accounts.

King Dizo as he is fondly referred to by his fans said he always paid for his own projects even when at XYZ. In other words, XYZ was unable to take the artist to the next level, according to the rapper.
