Nigeria Dominates Nomination List for Urban Music Awards African Artist of the Year

The nomination list for the 2022 edition of Urban Music Awards has been revealed and half of the nominees for the Artist of the Year Africa category are Nigerian musicians.
Fourteen artists will have to battle for the award seven of which are Nigerians. They include the usual big names - Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy and Tiwa Savage alongside Rema, Joeboy and Olakira.

Falz also made the list alongside other big African acts like Fally Ipupa, Diamond Platnumz, Sarkodie and Shatta Wale.

Aside from a nomination for Artist of the Year Africa, Olakira also bagged another one for Best Single - courtesy of his hit record 'Maserati'. The song will be battling some big names in the category among them Drake's 'Wants and Needs', 'Already' by Beyonce ft. Shatta Wale & Major Lazer and Stefflon Don's 'Dip' featuring Ms Banks.
The Urban Music Awards (UMA) acclaims itself as the biggest celebration of Hip-hop, R&B, Soul, Reggae, EDM, Gospel, Afrobeats, and EDM music in the world. It has annual ceremonies in North America, the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, and Europe.
Winners of different categories will be announced on February 14, 2022, after public voting which is now live via the official UMA website.
