It was a good year for video app TikTok as South African songs went viral and made it among some of the most watched videos on the platform. The songs helped generate 1.2 billion views on TikTok during the year. Here are South African songs that went viral on TikTok:

Siyathandana
Cassper Nyovest made it to the top of the list. It was his first Amapiano song after taking the shift from hip-hop which solidified his musical career for close to a decade now. He featured Boohle and Abidoza in the track.
Banyana
This was a major hit by DJ Maphorisa and Tyler ICU in 2021. The amazing beats are credits for the song’s spectacular performance especially on TIkTok.
Iyamemeza
DJ Sumbody changed the whole Amapiano scene in Mzansi when ‘Iyamemeza’ was released. The song is fantastic to listen to. Shortly after being released, it elicited massive challenges, thus the success on TikTok.

DJ Abux gave Mzansi a nostalgic hit to see them through 2021. It is a great hit worth listening to repeatedly.
