Nigerian singer Tems was among several African musicians that were nominated for the upcoming 64th Grammy Awards.

Tems got her debut nomination to the prestigious awards courtesy of her collaboration on Wizkid’s ‘Made In Lagos (Deluxe)’ album that has been nominated for the Best Global Music Album category as well as the global hit ‘Essence’ which has been nominated for the Best Global Music Performance category.

While the 26-year-old singer indicated that she was lost for words after getting the Grammy’s nomination fellow singer Simi took to her Twitter account to celebrate her.

In a tweet, replying to Tems, Simi said she was proud of the achievement. “Queen Shit. We're so proud,” Simi tweeted.

Tems now joins a list of few female Nigerian musicians to get a Grammy Awards nomination – including Niniola who is a double Grammy-nominated artist.

In the 64th Grammy Awards, Tems and Wizkid were nominated alongside Femi Kuti and Made Kuti, as well as Burna Boy, who was nominated for his collaborative role in Angelique Kidjo’s ‘Do Yourself’ single that will be battling ‘Essence’ for the Best Global Music performance.
