Free Download: Top 10 Naija Love Songs 2021
This year like every other year birthed a number of collaborations from Nigerian artistes; records that went on to do very good numbers. I’ll take you through my top 10 Naija collaborations released this year. Continue below: -
- Burna Boy ft Don Jazzy - Question
Rarely would you find Don Jazzy on a record these days but when a Grammy winner comes calling for a collaboration you’d surely not want to miss that opportunity.
Not only did Don Jazzy produce the record but he lent his voice to a couple of lines to spice up the tune. The video to the record released concurrently with the audio has already amassed close to 8 million views on YouTube.
- Chike ft Simi - Running (To You)
Taken off his debut Boo of the Booless album, ladies favourite, Chike released a refix of ‘Running’, this time with additional vocals from the silky-voiced Simi.
The video for ‘Running’ was 2021’s most-watched Nigerian music video at some point and currently has over 30 million YouTube views.
- Ajebo Hustlers ft Omah Lay - Pronto
A match made in Port Harcourt; Ajebo Hustlers and Omah Lay linked up to deliver this groovy catchy tune, a follow up to the duo’s hit record ‘Barawo’ which prompted a remix with Davido.
Pronto sees Ajebo Hustlers and Omah Lay effortlessly exchange verses in the quite sensual record. The song was produced by 1da Banton.
- Teni ft Davido - For You
There’s a reason why this record is the only feature on Teni’s debut album “Wondaland”. Davido completed what would have been the missing puzzle on the record that soon became a smash hit tune after its release. For You was produced by Pheelz.
- Adekunle Gold ft Davido - High
A follow up to his hit single “Sinner” Adekunle Gold is on a streak, releasing back to back hit singles. The amapiano influenced record was produced by certified hitmaker, Pheelz.
Released in September, ‘High’ has already garnered more than 6 million YouTube views.
- Vector & MI feat Pheelz - Crown of Clay
The two Nigerian rap icons finally got on a record together and delivered one of the most iconic rap records of the Nigerian rap scene. A collaboration that fans thought would never happen because of the known beef between Vector and MI; the two artistes like grown men settled their scores and got into the studio to make music and here, the outcome, this monster hit rap tune.
Produced by Pheelz who also took the hook on the record, “Crown of Clay” currently has over 640k YouTube views.
- Blaqbonez - Bling ft Amaraae & Buju
Chocolate city rapper, Blaqbonez released Bling as a single off his debut album “Sex Over Love”. The single quickly became a fan favourite and the most successful record off the Sex Over Love album.
- Wizkid ft Buju - Mood
Starboy Wizkid had to link up with the most in-demand artiste of 2021, the hook connoisseur Buju for this gem of a tune dubbed Mood. The record was part of Wizkid’s Made in Lagos album deluxe edition which was rolled out in August.
The audio available on YouTube is at almost 5 million views. This one is a jam for days.
- Lojay & Sarz - Monalisa
This year, legendary music producer Sarz introduced us to this very talented singer Lojay with a record titled “Tonongo”. The duo would go-ahead to release a collaboration EP, ‘LV N ATTN’ and from that EP is this fan favourite and smash hit tune “Monalisa”.
- Ladipoe ft Buju - Feeling
Record of the year contender, ‘Feeling’ is Ladipoe’s second number 1 single and a smash hit tune which became largely successful because of the catchy hook and how very relatable the record is. Ladipoe and Buju perfectly combined and complemented each other with Buju delivering the hook and Ladipoe coming in with pretty sing-along rap verses. You wouldn’t need a second listen to start singing along to this one.
“Omo e get small thing wey dey stress me but right now I’m chilling now”, that’s me every other day :)
