South Africa Music News: Boity Thulo Lands 5 Nominations in 2021 South African Hip-hop Awards

South African artist Boity Thulo’s has landed five nominations in the 2021 South African Hip Hop awards.

She landed a nomination in the following categories: Most Valuable Player/Hustler of the year, Best Mix tape of the year for her album 4436, Best female rapper, Freshman of the year and Best Remix of the year for 018’s Finest Remix ft 25k, William Last KRM, Towdee Mac and Venom.

The South African Hip Hop Awards come after Thulo was nominated by People’s Choice Award for African Social Star of 2021.

Boity, a sassy South African rapper who doubles up as a TV personality and entrepreneur has been rising musically since 2018 when she released her first single ‘Wuz Dat’.

She later signed with Def Jam and released her EP ‘4436’ in 2020. The actress has always been a sensation in South Africa, perhaps due to her intriguing life story and zeal to succeed in life despite it all.

Boity loved books and having been raised by her maternal grandmother, she put in the work and enrolled at Monash University to study Psychology and criminology but dropped out due to lack of fees.

It is then that she ventured into acting and appeared on her first commercial in 2010. Her entry into music is interesting as well. During the Migos Culture Tour in South Africa back in 2017, she debuted her rapping career after the American rappers delayed by a few hours.

She, alongside Nasty C, were the opening acts at the TicketPro Dome and this built her foundation in Hip-hop. She released her first hit single ‘Wuz Dat’ the following year.
