Abel Chungu: Don’t Vote for me at Diamond TV’s 2021 Awards, Support Esther Chungu Instead

Zambian gospel music star Abel Chungu has surprised his fans after he urged them not to vote for him in the upcoming Diamond TV’s ‘Personality of the Year Award’, but instead vote for Esther Chungu.

The Zambian gospel RnB singer was nominated for an award under ‘Personality of the Year’ category alongside Pompi, Yellow Dove, Esther Chungu and Ephraim alias ‘Son of Africa’.

While acknowledging the nomination, Abel said though it is an honor, he would like his fans to vote for Esther instead as a way to appreciate her efforts in the industry.

“Diamond TV Zambia has nominated me for their Personality Awards. It’s a great Honour I must say. A lot of friends and fans have already told me they’ve voted for me and I appreciate that. But I have a huge favour to ask of you all. If you’re gonna vote for me please send it to Esther Chungu. Cause she really outdid herself this year. I already called her and hubby Chaka so they know where my votes going. I think everyone in the category would understand,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

Abel’s selflessness is a big lesson to Zambians, especially in the entertainment industry on the need to appreciate and stand up for one another.

The ‘Extra Time’ hit maker who worked equally hard in the industry last year has set pace for his peers to stand up for one another.

Meanwhile, Esther recently hit a new milestone after she delivered a stellar performance at the Global Citizen Live Concert in New York. Esther shared the stage with Coldplay in New York and performed her hit song ‘Jehovah’.

She stole the moment as she let out her magical vocals in a set with Chris Martin as Coldplay did the instruments for her. The presence of thousands of fans at the venue pushed her to put out her greatest performance in an event graced by Burna Boy, Ed Sheeran, Bullie Elish among other world stars.
