Wizkid's Made In Lagos Album Hits 1 Billion Streams

Wizkid continues to register success after success with his 2020-released album ‘Made in Lagos’.

The album which has already enhanced the singer’s global profile has now surpassed a billion streams across all digital music platforms, in just under a year of release.

Wizkid News, a Twitter page dedicated to credible Wizkid updates indicates that Made in Lagos has now reached a  billion streams across six major digital platforms. This feat makes Wizkid the first singer to have an Afrobeats album surpass a billion streams in under a year.

‘Made In Lagos’ which features guest appearances from British artists Skepta and Ella Mai, American R&B singer H.E.R., Jamaican artists Projexx and Damian Marley, and Nigerian artists Burna Boy, Tay Iwar, Terri and Tems has already set numerous other records which includes being the longest-charting album from a Nigerian artist on Billboard World Album Chart. It has spent 48 consecutive weeks and has peaked at number one on the chart, the latest one being this week.

Made in Lagos had also become the first African album to debut on the Spotify Global Album chart, debuting within the top ten, within one week of release, and also surpassed 100 million streams across five platforms nine days after release.

Wizkid recently released a ‘Made In Lagos (Deluxe)’ edition, which enabled the album to sell an additional 17,000 units in the United States, peaking at number 28 on the Billboard 200.

One of the standout singles of the album is ‘Essence (Remix)’ featuring Tems and Justin Bieber which has peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 chart at number 10 this week.

Wizkid is currently in the United States of America for his Made In Lagos Tour.
