Award-winning South Sudan artist Silver X has denied reports that he banned Ugandan musicians from performing in the country, over claims of failing to stand with them when they lost one of their top artists.

A few weeks ago, South Sudan lost one of their biggest artists; Mantani Ov Hardlyfe who died in Uganda after a tragic accident.

Following the sad news, Silver X through social media accused his Ugandan counterparts of abandoning them at their time of need, since most Ugandan artists did not post messages of condolence to the deceased’s family.

Many Ugandan artists reacted to his social media post accusing him of banning them from performing in their country.

However, in a recent interview with Spark TV, Silver X denied the allegations noting that he was just calling them out for not standing with them during hard times.

"People misunderstood the content I tried to put out. We have always been open for everybody especially for Ugandans. The message I put across was for us to stand together as sister countries; when there's pain or happiness on the other side, we stand together.

"I was never cutting Ugandans off from South Sudan and no one should lie to you that they are not allowed because you can't separate these two countries musically,” he said.

Silver X, however, noted that he felt disappointed and betrayed by Ugandan artists for not reaching out following the death of their star.

"When I first posted about Mantani's death, they kept quiet. I had to first get angry and then they reacted meaning they saw but chose to ignore it. My post went viral and they started sending in their condolences," Silver X said.
