Ykee Benda Defends Self over Attacks for Sending Late Condolence Message to Departed South Sudan Artist

Ugandan artist Ykee Benda has defended himself against attacks by a section of netizens after he sent a late message of condolence to fallen South Sudanese artist, Mantani.

Mantani Ov Hardlyfe passed away in Uganda after a tragic accident that happened in Moyo district. Being one of the top artists in South Sudan, his countrymen hoped Ugandan musicians would stand with them during the tragedy, but unfortunately, this was not the case.

Days after his passing, Ykee Benda made a grieving post but was met with negative comments warning him never to set foot in South Sudan.

In his defense, Ykee Benda said he was not aware of Mantani's passing until a friend informed him on Thursday morning.

"The insults aren’t really necessary my people, it is still from you that I learned that Mantani died here, it is not an offense that we didn’t know because we didn’t know . We haven’t seen it anywhere in the news.

"Well the only important issue is that now our brother is in God’s hands and we pray that he rests in Paradise . Let’s pay respect to his soul because he didn’t live to divide nations but he lived to unite us. That's how we got to know him and that’s how we shared whatever we shared," Ykee shared.
