Maddox Ssematimba Explains Why he Doesn't Shoot Videos for His Songs

Veteran Reggae artist Maddox Ssematimba has opened up on why he doesn't shoot videos for his songs, claiming that visuals are insignificant in the music career.

Maddox is one of the most celebrated Ugandan artists with timeless music. He has a number of classic songs but has only released one video.

The only video we got from Maddox was 'Namagembe' released close to five years ago.

Speaking during a recent interview, Maddox revealed that with ‘Namagembe’ visuals, he was testing a young videographer's talent but was never interested in shooting one.

"I was testing the ability of a young videographer who had asked to shoot it. I did my song and he took it upon himself to shoot the video," Maddox said.

While defending his decision not to produce videos for his songs, Madoxx said he doesn't have money to waste on getting visuals for his jams.

Madoxx further noted that he believes a good song will do well even without the video, arguing that the message is the most important because that is what people listen to.

"All those ventures need money and I don't have that much. I just release music for you to listen to; the blind, the people that don't have TVs still listen to my music, that means the video doesn't make a song good," he opined.

Maddox tasked any videographers who feel they want his music to have visuals, to invest and shoot them at their costs.
