Iryn Namubiru and Juliana Kanyomozi are arguably two of the most celebrated vocalists in the Ugandan music industry. The two were once part of the same music group, but parted ways when the group was disbanded. The break-up led to speculation that the two had their own issues, but they have both dismissed the claims.

Experience

Iryn Namubiru and Juliana Kanyomozi both made their music debuts in 1995. When the two artists met at Namasagali College, they formed a girl group I-Jay in 1999. In 2000, they released their first 7-track album titled ‘WAIT’ which featured songs like; "Wait RMX (Ft Steve Jean)’, ‘Not Good Enough’, among others. Shortly after releasing the album, they parted ways. Juliana embarked on a solo career while Iryn Namubiru left for France.

Iryn Namubiru has won several awards including; PAM Awards, Buzz magazine, Diva Awards, Hipipo among others. Juliana Kanyomozi has won PAM Awards, HiPipo, Kora Awards, ASFAs, BEFTA, EA Music Awards and Tanzania Music Awards among others.
