South Africa’s DJ Maphorisa has come to the defense of singer Zahara following a viral TikTok video where she joined in on a chorus while ostensibly drunk together with other revelers.

Maphorisa in a Sunday tweet termed whoever posted the video as ‘wicked’.

“Dnt play with Zahara please, the person who posted dat video is wicked,” he tweeted.

From the video, Zahara seems sad. The whole mood at the event; a house party of some sort is melancholic. She appears to be crying as a number of her friends hum softly to a song which she picks up with her magical vocals.

Maphorisa says that Zahara needs help; although he did not specify what kind of help or why Zahara needs it yet she seemed fine except being a little bit under influence.

“She’s goin tru a lot she needs help Folded hands Sauta Africa can be useless sometimes Sauta stop this thing of bringing down people. Help Help Help Help Help,” he said.

However, tweeps quickly discounted this theory saying Zahara needs no help. Some said she was a human being going about life just like everyone else and doing what she does best; music.

Daniel Jacobs said “Somebody help me understand. Since I've never been drunk. What makes Zahara funny in this video. Coz she's just singing. Some of you do worse things when you're drunk. She's just having harmless fun like every other human being. Niyamhlukumeza losisi.”

Water Cycle added: “She going through what? People can't drink and have fun without being diagnosed now?? Animeni Maphorisa.”

In her reply, Zahara said she owes no one an apology because she is happy about her vocals at the time.

“I was very happy in that moment and I stand behind my vocals. Have a blessed Sunday bethunana,” she said.
